Planning a hair transplant trip to Dubai around Ramadan and public holidays

A hair transplant trip to Dubai can work well around Ramadan and public holidays, but it needs earlier planning than usual. Clinic hours can change during Ramadan and around Eid, and flights and hotels fill up at holiday times. Confirm your dates with the clinic before you book anything else.

Here is what shifts in Dubai at these times, how fasting fits with aftercare, and how to be a considerate visitor.

When are Ramadan and the main public holidays in Dubai?

Ramadan and the two Eids follow the Islamic lunar calendar, so they move about 11 days earlier each year. Exact dates depend on the sighting of the moon and are often confirmed only shortly beforehand.

The periods most likely to affect a trip are:

    • Ramadan, the month of fasting, which lasts 29 or 30 days.
    • Eid al-Fitr, the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan.
    • Arafat Day and Eid al-Adha, which fall roughly two months after Eid al-Fitr.
    • Islamic New Year, also set by the lunar calendar.
    • UAE National Day in early December, and New Year’s Day on 1 January.

Look up the expected dates for your year before choosing travel dates, and leave a day or two of slack either side.

Do clinic hours change during Ramadan and Eid?

In many cases, yes. During Ramadan, many businesses in Dubai work shorter or shifted hours. Over Eid and other public holidays, clinics may close for a few days or run a reduced schedule.

For a hair transplant, that matters in three ways:

    • The procedure day. A transplant session usually takes several hours, so suitable slots may be harder to find.
    • Check-ups. If your plan includes a visit in the days after the procedure, make sure it falls on an open day.
    • Questions. Ask how to reach the clinic over a holiday if something worries you.

The simplest approach is to book early and confirm every appointment in writing, including any return visits.

Can you have a hair transplant while fasting?

This is a question for your surgeon, not a travel guide. Aftercare can involve medicines, meals and water at particular times, and fasting changes all of that.

If you plan to fast, say so at your consultation. The clinic can advise whether the timing suits you and how to plan medicines, food and water around the fast. Some patients simply prefer to book the procedure after Ramadan.

“If a patient is fasting, we plan the procedure and the aftercare together before the date is fixed. I would rather adjust the timing than leave someone torn between their fast and their aftercare. Every plan is individual.”

Visitors who are not fasting are not expected to. They should simply be thoughtful in public during fasting hours, as covered below.

How busy are flights and hotels around the holidays?

Eid and the year-end season are peak times to travel. Many UAE residents fly home or go away, while many visitors arrive, so flights and hotels can be heavily booked.

The cooler months are also Dubai’s busiest tourist season, and National Day and New Year add to the demand. A few habits make a hair transplant trip smoother:

    • Book flights and a hotel as soon as the clinic confirms your date.
    • Choose flexible bookings in case holiday dates shift or the clinic adjusts its schedule.
    • Stay close to the clinic, as traffic is often heavier in the hour before iftar.
    • Add a few quiet days after the procedure before the flight home.

Ask the clinic how soon you can fly after the procedure, and follow that advice rather than a general rule.

What should you ask the clinic before booking flights?

A short list of questions, sent before you commit to travel, avoids most holiday surprises. It helps to ask:

    1. Which days will you be open during Ramadan and over Eid, and at what hours?
    2. Does my procedure date leave room for any early check-up before a holiday closure?
    3. How can I reach the team with a question while the clinic is closed?
    4. If I am fasting, how should I plan medicines, meals and water around the procedure?
    5. How many days should I stay in Dubai before flying home?

Keep the answers together with your booking details. If someone is travelling with you, share the plan with them too, so they know where to go and who to call.

How can visitors be respectful during Ramadan?

Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer and generosity, and Dubai welcomes visitors throughout. A little awareness goes a long way:

    • Eating and drinking. Many restaurants stay open by day, but it is considerate not to eat, drink or smoke openly in public during fasting hours.
    • Dress. Modest clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is appreciated in public places.
    • Noise. Keep music low in public, and be patient in traffic and queues.
    • Iftar. The fast ends at sunset, and many hotels and communities host iftar meals. Joining one is a warm way to share the month.
    • Greetings. Ramadan Kareem is a friendly greeting during the month, and Eid Mubarak during Eid.

Ramadan evenings are lively and pleasant, which suits someone recovering. Outings naturally shift to the cooler hours, away from strong sun on a healing scalp.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are clinics open during Ramadan?

Many clinics stay open with adjusted hours, but closures around Eid are common. Always confirm your dates directly before booking travel.

Should I avoid booking right before Eid?

It can help to. Flights and hotels are busier, and check-ups in the days after the procedure may clash with holiday closures.

Do non-Muslim visitors have to fast?

No. Visitors are simply asked to be respectful, for example by not eating or drinking openly in public during the day.

Is the weather good for recovery during Ramadan?

It depends on the year, as Ramadan moves through the seasons. For the next few years it falls in the cooler part of the year, which makes shaded outings easier.
